Coming on Tour

  • You make your First Enquiry – Contact Us.
  • We respond with an answer to all your questions by email or phone.

Acute Mountain Sickness

Acute Mountain Sickness

AMS is an illness that can affect mountain climbers, hikers, skiers, or travellers at high altitude (typically above 10,000 feet or 3,050 meters). AMS is due to a combination of reduced air pressure and lower oxygen levels at higher altitudes. The faster you climb to a high altitude, the more likely you are to experience AMS.

Travel Insurance

Nobody wants to get hurt or injured on tour but accidents do sometimes happen. You should have a Travel Insurance Policy that is sufficient for your personal needs. Check your insurance policy covers such needs as hospitalisation or repatriation. Sometimes we ride in remote locations in which there will be no mobile signal, no helicopter recovery service and ambulances may not be available.

Riding in the Himalayas

Riding in the Himalaya always requires a range of clothing. The passes are sometimes very cold. Crossing Tanglang La for example there is sometimes snow. Your riding jacket though should be well ventilated. Evenings in the mountains can be cool. we advise you bring a warm pullover or body-warmer.

Visa Notes

India Visas

To enter and travel in India, normally you require only at least a ‘single entry Indian Tourist Visa’. But when planning your trip, consider how many times you may wish to enter India. A Bhutan Tour requires a mulitple Entry visa.

In India or Nepal

Arriving In India or Nepal

Arriving a day before your tour starts, gives you time to rest and acclimatise to local conditions; particularly important if you be flying onwards to Leh 3,500m.

Part of your Tour Booking and Planning process includes submitting forms with your Flight Times and Arrival Dates. You can submit these details through The Rider Pages after you have confirmed your booking. The Rider Pages contain hotel and contact details. These details ensure that we meet your incoming flight and transfer you safely to our hotel.

If you are planning to arrive a day or two early, let us know and we can arrange to collect you from the airport and book hotel rooms for you.

If you plan to stay for several days after your Tour we are happy to help with your accommodation and travel plans. If you have questions about anything, please ask!
