A Road Tour through central Nepal kicking-off with a ride to the birthplace of the uniteing force and Father of Nepal, King Prithivi Narayan Shah. We stay in Pokhara’s chilled-out Lakeside and the unique Chitwan National Park. We discover hidden mountain lakes and mile after mile of beautiful mountain highway; we explore roads to the foot of The Annapurna mountain range. The Second Stage of the Ride takes us south into Nepal's Terai where we stay beside the Rapti River and explore on elephant-back Chitwan’s National park, with marvellous close-up sightings of its unique miniature rhino, crocodiles, deer and exotic birdlife. Off again on the East-West Mahendra Highway taking us through some of Nepal’s vast Terai wetlands and back into the Mahabharat Range of hills towards the Kathmandu Valley. The Third Stage of the ride takes us across the south of the Kathmandu Valley through ancient Newari villages and on towards the eastern edge of the Valley and the start of the Arniko Highway. We ride to the end of the road that marks the start of the trail leading to the Mount Everest Base Camp and stay in a hidden green valley of Jiri. The Road Tour culminates in a ride to the Tibet Border and for the “dare devils” a Bungy-Jump followed by a Riverside Party above the roaring Bhote Koshe. Administration StuffSingles - We do not charge for single accommodation on this Tour. Generally we put singles of the same gender together sharing a twin room (or a double + single bed room).
Pre – Post Tour - Arrangements can be made for additional days before and after the planned Tour dates including escorted transfer to the scheduled Tour hotel. Additional transfer and hotel room fees will be charged pro-rata.
Accommodation Notes - In Kathmandu we stay in comfortable hotel accommodation. On the highway we stay in the best we can find, which typically ranges from the clean and basic (with attached bathroom) to small town lodges with shared bathrooms. At The Last Resort we stay in terraced gardens in tents.
Reality CheckPhysical Stamina & Climate - Gentle to moderately taxing. Sometimes the roads are dusty, dirt roads. Kathmandu city traffic is busy and at times aggressive. Requires a degree of cool and mental stamina. Daytime is typically hot and sunny, evenings warm to cool, sometimes rain showers. |
