Riding through forests in Darjeeling to Sikkim

Queen of The Hills - Adventures in Darjeeling and Sikkim on a Royal Enfield. Starting from the plains in the north eastern India town of Siliguri in West Bengal, this motorcycle tour takes in the eastern Himalayan foothills of Darjeeling (2,800m.) following Darjeeling's famous Toy Train. Ahead lies Sikkim’s Himalayan kingdom of mystical Buddhist monasteries, high altitude lakes and beautiful Orchid Gardens.

Riding through famous tea gardens – once summer retreats for the British Raj, the ride takes us through the small Hill Station of Kourseong, winding uphill to Darjeeling town. Ahead of us lies Sikkim’s Himalayan kingdom of mystical Buddhist monasteries, high altitude lakes and beautiful Orchid Gardens.

In the hills we get a taste of Lepcha lifestyle, the largest Mongolian community in Sikkim, original inhabitants of Sikkim. Our return journey takes us high into the north of Sikkim into The Great Himalayan Range and returns to Gangtok. Rumtek, seat of HH The Karmapa Lama and the pretty hill station of Kalimpong, once the stop-over for the HH The Dalai Lama whilst fleeing Tibet.

Joining Instructions / Transfer to Siliguri - When we receive your booking we will send detailed joining instructions for this Tour. If you are comfortable travelling across India on your own or in a group, these instructions will detail options for travel to Siliguri in West Bengal, from Delhi and Kolkata. For those who would like to be met and escorted to Siliguri, we can arrange to meet small groups and individuals in either Delhi or Calcutta.

Singles
Singles can opt for a single room for an additional fee of € 50. But generally we put singles of the same gender together sharing a twin room (or a double + single bed room).

Pre – Post Tour
Arrangements can be made for additional days before and after the planned Tour dates including escorted transfer to the scheduled Tour hotel. Additional transfer and hotel room fees will be charged pro-rata.

Reality Check

Toughness / Climate Rating - This is can be a physically demanding Tour, with some long riding days. It sometimes calls for a degree of mental and physical stamina. Domestic transfers are as comfortable as possible, the train from Delhi to Siliguru is an overnight train and quite comfortable.
