Shivpuri home to beautful Mogul palaces and gardens

First get yourself to Delhi, your Ride Leader will meet you personally at the airport. Then we transfer from the airport to our Delhi central hotel. Welcome to India Dinner meet fellow riders and start the Tour Briefing.

The next morning we transfer by a/c coach south to our hotel in the town of Bharapur. Here you take charge of your Royal Enfield. After a briefing we'll take our Enfield Bullets for a gentle ride to the ancient Mogul city of Fatehpur Sikri, with it's fine Masjid or Mosque.

It's a desert motorcycle tour and our Royal Enfields take us through low hills, desert terrain, sand dunes and then into a splash of green. It's a desert motorcycle tour through a land where ancient farming techniques are still in use. Our Enfield Bullets rumble through dusty villages and then suddenly over the brow of a hill looms an old Maharaja’s Palace made of golden stone, cut so finely you’ll think it’s made of lace.

Maps & Navigating Tips

Finding The Map You Need

Finding maps of remote and far away places is a challenge at the best of times. In London I would go to Stanfords. In San Fransisco I would go to Rand McNally's. In Leh Ladkah I would go to the local bookshop in the market square. In Kargil it's the stationery shop, and in Srinagar look in the book shops.

How Big is This Map

A question arose about the scale and distances involved on a particular map we were reading, something like, "How big is this map?" There was no Distance Scale Rule printed on the map, save the chilly numbers 1:250,000. Ok that's 1 bit on the map = 250,000 bits on the ground right? So how far is it between here and there...

Testimonials

"It's only been a 4 day tour but we've seen a lot of different things. The Elephants were brilliant, I loved Chitwan. And the route back over the Dam was really beautiful. It's been fun riding with Peter, he's shown us so much in 4 days. Graham Davis. UK.
