Dragon Bus at the Tea Stop

Dragon Bus at the Tea Stop
Landslides and road slippage on the Rajpath built in the 1950's with Indian assistance, make this highway harder to reach, harder to mend and harder to maintain, when it requires work. The Mugling to Narayanghat section of the Siddharth highway has been repaired fairly comprehensively in the recent past and now serves as the main north south route. The third highway yet further to the west is the Pokhara to Butwal section of the Siddhartha Highway. The highway we would ride today is the 4th Highway to snake its way through the mountains to the south. We usually stop at the tea shops here before setting off out of the Kathmandu Valley and today there was a colourful Dragon bus parked opposite us. It was a day of Striking for Transport workers and vehicles were off the road all over Nepal. During these strikes motorcycles are the only road users, so we expected a free road for our coming journey.
