Shimla Spiti Leh is GO!

Our new Shimla Spiti Leh Tour is in effect a Spiti Valley Tour with the added bonus of the magnificent and challenging highway onwards to Leh.

The classic Spiti Valley Tour is a without doubt tremendous route to ride. The problem at present with this route lies in the returning-leg south, over the Rhotang La Pass.

Both side of this steep and challenging pass – Rhotang La, have for several years now been deteriorating to the extent that the roadway both sides of the pass is now is a 'complete mess'. This is the main route to to Leh and is heavily used by tucks supplying the Indian Army and civilians in Leh Ladakh.

Added to which Rhotang La is the first pass on the Manali Leh highway and as such is increasingly visited by vast numbers of upwardly mobile Indian Tourists who add to the traffic congestion on an already badly damaged road.

Given that the southern side suffers the combined forces of heavy monsoon rains from June to September and heavy snowfall from October to the spring, the road surface has become badly damaged, the northern side also endures heavy snowfall in winter and is in equally bad shape.

The weather damage, combined with Border Roads - India’s paramilitary (border) road construction organisation, has been widening this road for several years which has served largely to turn it into a muddy, broken, deeply rutted and in places quite dangerous road. Traffic on both sides of the pass often becomes log-jammed for hours on end, making the ride to what would have been our night stop in Manali, little short of a nightmare; a painful, unpleasant and hard slog, not nice after the serene beauty of the Spiti Valley.

So...

In short, rather than riding a Spiti Valley Tour and returning home over Rhotang La, both groups will ride on and arrive together in Leh.

The two Tours will start together; combining the groups give us a larger group for the Ride to Leh and offers Riders of the LZK the chance to enjoy the magnificent hidden beauty of the Spiti Valley.

In Leh Ladakh, the two groups will enjoy some local touring together before we wave goodbye to the Shimla Spiti Leh Group and see you off on your flight back to Delhi – the return flight is included in the Tour price, where you will be collected at the airport to return for your last night in our Delhi hotel.

A few a few places remain to make an excellent group for this amazingly beautiful Tour.

Book Now to avoid disappointment and let's get you signed-up for the ride of a lifetime!

Re: Shimla Spiti Leh is GO!

Sherap is going through the checklist what to bring and what to pack for Shimla-Spiti-Leh-Zanskar-Nubra-Kasmir tour slated for July 16th. The ticket reservation from Kathmandu to Delhi has been made with my all time favorite Nepal Airlines. Peter will be in Delhi already picking our fellow riders. I am bringing our tour banner that will display our company name and destinations. Magnetic sign boards to zap on the sides of our support pickup jeep. I am checking my cameras, battery, and will soon be going to buy fresh pair of riding boots, gloves, sun glasses etc. My last year's riding boots are in Delhi but they might be molded and stinky by now. Am looking forward to meet you all! Cheers!
