India Notes Nearly five thousand years ago India's first
major civilisation flourished along the Indus River valley. From the perpetual snows of the Himalayas to the rich and fertile peninsula of the
South. From the deltas of the East to the deserts in the West. From the blistering dry heat of the Central Plateau to the cool forest foothills,
Indian architecture, Holy Temples, Indian lifestyle itself, always serves to glorify its own geography. Their food, their clothing and habits as
Indians are different in every different place we visit.

My travel in North India was an experience that has affected my approach to life. I know this because my wife of 40 years tells me so. I went on a 26 day motorcycle ride from Delhi ...to the Nubra desert and across to Srinagar. We crossed passes at about 18,000 to 19,000 feet. Here I experienced altitude sickness, though it seems this is nothing to do with age or fitness or heath of the sufferer. My guide was Peter Francon. |
