I came across Free Spirit Adventure Tours via RoyalEnfield.com and all just sounded great.
This will be probably my first trip where I am following a set itinerary. Normally I just drive into the day without a fixed destination following my motto “Life is a journey and not a destination”. Let’s ride!
If I feel the need for speed then I get on my KTM525EXC Racing and I hammer through the West African bush. My present day-to-day bike is a Kawasaki KLR650, which will take me one day, from here to Europe. The mechanically complex bikes are good for the off road racing fun, when you are out there for a couple of hours or a day or so and to please the need for speed and to to get the adrenalin kick one is looking for, but nothing for travelling. When I am travelling I am really preferring simple bikes, let it be for nostalgic reasons - I love Ted Simons 'Jupiters journey' and the fact that they are easier to maintain and repair. Their limited speed lets me enjoy slow pace riding without being tempted to open up and turn the trip into a race and last but not least, your mind is free... while strolling around a town or temple, when your bike's parked somewhere.Though I loved my KTM640Adventure, I had to sell it after my plans were shelved to circle the world. I have never been at such high altitude and I am quite excited about it. I just hope it will not be too freaking cold up there... Counting the days... Sascha Sascha will be joining us for the Ladakh Zanskar Kashmir Tour. |
